After getting the pregnancy result, the women are most curious about how their pregnancy is. For this reason, I wanted to prepare a series of guide articles consisting of basic information such as what is going on during each week of pregnancy. First of all, I would like to explain some terms that you will hear frequently before talking about the subject. So, what are these questions?
What is trimester?
The periods that occur when the pregnancy is divided into three months are called trimesters. 1st trimester involves the first 3 months, 2nd trimester involves the 4th-5th-6th months. The 3rd trimester is the period that includes 7th-8th and 9th months.
What is embryo?
Embryo is the medical name we give to your baby between 2-10 weeks of pregnancy.
What is fetus?
The fetus is the medical name we give to pregnancies older than 10 weeks.The most common question you will hear from doctors during pregnancy follow-up is “the last menstrual date“.
How is the last menstrual date calculated?
Pregnancy weeks are tried to be calculated based on the start date of the menstrual period. It is difficult to determine when the sperm and the egg meet. Therefore, we can say that the start date of the last menstrual period is the start day of pregnancy in order to bring a standard to this work. Your pregnancy weeks are about 2 weeks older than your baby. So your baby is actually only 1 week old when your pregnancy is 3 weeks.
If you’re ready, we start from scratch;
In the first three months you will try to get used to the idea that you are pregnant, and of course your body will try to get used to it. During this familiarization process, you will try to deal with the early symptoms of pregnancy. Your baby will gradually become visible with the formation and growth of organs.
2 Weeks of Pregnancy
These are the weeks that changed your life, actually. You lay eggs in the middle of your period. If your egg encounters sperm in the tubes and pierces the outer membrane of the egg and fertilization occurs, you have taken your first step towards pregnancy 🙂
For now, enjoy the first days of pregnancy in the light of this information. Later, I will talk about the 3rd week of pregnancy and see you in my next post 🙂
